I am dedicated to providing support and understanding throughout the transformative journey from perimenopause to menopause and beyond. This significant period, spanning about 5 to 7 years before menopause, typically begins around age 42 to 45, or sometimes even earlier.
In the initial stages of perimenopause, the decline in progesterone and fluctuating oestrogen levels can bring about changes in your menstrual cycle, with periods becoming closer together and often heavier.
As you traverse this phase, you might notice a lost sense of self, low libido, and intensification of PMS symptoms, with irritability & mood swings impacting your life and relationships. Hormonal shifts can also make it challenging to cope with stress, potentially leading to anxiety, brain fog, and depression.
Beyond affecting your menstrual cycle and mood, oestrogen fluctuations can influence various aspects of your health. Some women experience aggravated allergies, the onset of histamine intolerance or cyclical migraines, and issues like reflux, abdominal bloating, and insomnia—often tied to stress levels and adrenal function.
Oestrogen's impact extends to conditions like endometriosis and fibroids, with diagnoses becoming more common in your 40s. It's a critical period for women's health, where hormonal changes can sometimes be misdiagnosed as more severe conditions like depression and fibromyalgia.
